Team Pellet Guys 6-1-21

It was a good start to 2022 for the Pellet Guys chaps with Ian Simpson and Colin Mercer representing the Northerners both  framing at Weston Pools.  Colin on canal dobbed bread and maggot on Peg 46 to finish 3rd with 60-15-0, behind Andy Amos 67-1-0 and James Berry 84-8-0.  Meanwhile on Belvedere Peg 20 Ian Simpson fished maggot shallow to win his first match of the year (well it was on 2nd January) with 58-10-0.

Further South Glen Butler fished Round 4 of the Puddledock Individual Winter League and the day started well for him when they handed him Peg 10 which was also the Golden Peg.  All he had to do next was win the match..... and win it he did, on a tough day having caught a few fish from all over his peg he “filled it in “ across with Pellet Guys crushed dark expander and enough fish turned up to give him a hard earned victory with 55-10-0, just ahead of Kenny Ogborne on Peg 80 with 54-0-0.  Well done Glen you cant beat a nice Golden Peg win.

At the other end of the age spectrum young Alfie Swieton (remember that name cos he’s going to be a star) fished the first open of the year at the Royal Berkshire Fishery, drew peg 66 and having caught 2 carp dobbing bread he then switched to fishing the left hand margin with maggots to catch 13 F1’s and won the  match with 34lb, ahead of John Gibbons (Peg 59) with 26-6-0 and Dougie Graves (Peg 37) with 21-2-0.

Orchard Farm Place was the venue for some decent weights as Sam Docker drew Peg 1 on the spit and dobbed bread for 42 carp before switching to the margins were he’d fed a mix of Pellet guys paste and crushed expender and maggots for another 16 to finish with 195lb, well clear of Perry Stone – 168lb and Lee Kendrick 135lb.

The ever consistent Dean Lock fished a silvers match on Lake 3 at Monk Lakes and didn’t disappoint. Drawing Peg 112 on a tough day Dean caught small roach long and with a bonus tench and big ide at 5 metres in the last 15 minutes. finished up with  15-9-0 and second place.
